A Sunset to remember
Earlier in the day, we had unintentionally sped through a tunnel in East Iceland when the automatic camera caught us in the act by firing a red flash. We spent 15 mins talking to the girl at the coffee shop in the next town inquiring what could it mean if a camera flashed inside the tunnel. She took the pain of discussing it with her supervisor and concluding, that we mostly got a speeding ticket, but reassuring at the same time that it wont be much. We spent another hour after that worrying about the amount of the speeding ticket while driving through a road that seemed as if it was carved in the ice age. By the time we got to Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in Europe, our worries had dissolved into the beauty of the surreal sky, the best that we had seen on our trip so far. After the falls, we drove towards Akureyri, and captured this sunset along the Ring Road. The setting was just what i used to paint in every painting as a child - Snow mountains, a hut, a serpentine river and a gorgeous sunset. And for those of you wondering about the ticket- we still havnt received anything from our car rental, so hopefully it wasnt a speeding ticket, or just like the fellow Icelanders, the traffic police were very kind to us.
